International Women's day

Today is International Women’s Day and I want to honor a woman I discovered when I was doing historical research for my book(s). Harriet Martineau, 1802-1876, was an historian, commentator, and activist, widely published during her lifetime but now only has a footnote as “the Mother of Sociology.”

She was such a “character” I gave her a cameo in my second book about the period. Here’s a favorite quote, “Men who pass most comfortably through the world are those with possess good digestions and hard hearts.”

I’d love to hear your thoughts and comments on my writing or my website. Just fill out the form or email me at
